Fruit-growing village

The Leikanger municipality is located between fjord and mountain in the heart of the Sognefjord. The municipality borders Balestrand in the west and Sogndal in the east. Leikanger has about 2200 inhabitants.

The nearest regional center is Sogndal, which is a 20-minute drive away.

Leikanger is the 4th largest fruit municipality in the country. About 80,000 trees bearing apples, pears and plums are in production and blooming every spring. The bees in Leikanger produce a fantastic honey, and you can buy locally produced honey at the local shop.

In recent years there have been increased efforts to cultivate raspberries and along the way you can, if you are lucky, buy beautiful raspberries in the fall.
